There was the developed art culture when Europeans came to the Northern America. But when they came to America, they fully destroyed the culture so developed by Indians.

The art of numerous tribes that was at the stage of primitive communal system was much connected with the every-day life and the goods production. This art reflected the observations of hunters, fishers. It also reflected the mythological and religious fantasy of Indians.

Indians built and developed different kinds of houses and places for living that varied from place to place depending on the climatic and natural conditions of each territory. They were made of leaves, branches, fells, and stone in South America and of planking in the North Western Northern America, etc.

Indians also decorated their houses as the wood engraving was very popular. It was rather spread for both houses decorating and graves and tombs decorating. The coast tribes of Northern America are especially rich in it. But it can be also seen among South American tribes.

Braiding, weaving and embroidery were the original manifestation of the Indian culture as well as the decorations making, figures and dishes production. The embroidery often reflected the fantastic creatures and monsters as well as geometric ornament. Popular topic for embroidery was the scenes of hunting and military battles. All Indians are famous all over the world for their decorations of clothes with plumage.
