Europeans settlements

American Indians were developing and had the high level of civilization development. But Europeans interfered in it a lot. The European colonization cut the natural way of Indians development. The great number of Indians of Northern America was killed by the first conquerors and settlements. Many tribes had to go away to the reservations made in the USA leaving traditional and natural places of living. For example in 1830 according to one of laws adapted by local power all Indians who lived at the Atlantic coast were deported to Oklahoma where the majority of them died either from hunger or serious diseases. According to official data more than 45 000 Indians died during the period from 1775 till 1890. The number of Indians that populated the modern territory of the USA and Canada decreased in 2-4 millions during the period before the mass European colonization.

Only the Indians of the North of the continent continue their nomad way of life and live catching the animals and eating them selling the animal's furs.

The major part of the Indians population assimilated with Americans. Many tribes of the Southern America were also damaged and killed. And only a few tribes managed to survive and keep their traditions and beliefs through the centuries. But Indians played an important role in the formation of nations of the Southern America. Mexicans, Argentines, Peruvians were formed thanks to Indians who made the base of the nation.

Some countries even use Indian language as well as Spanish.
