Comanche
When Comanche was rather developed and it had more than 20 000 people it was rather powerful. Nowadays the number of its population decreased twice. However this tribe is still the most numerous tribe of the modern North America. And today the major part of this tribe lives on the territory of the state Oklahoma. And it is strange but this is the only tribe that Europeans didn't manage to evict from their place of living.
According to linguists the name "Comanche" comes from the word "kohmahts" and simply means "people". As the separate ethnic group Comanche was noticed first in 1700. Unlike other tribes Comanche never had contacts with other ethnic groups and tribes. This tribe didn't have the one leader who had the power over all clans. Instead the tribe chose several leaders that made the council of the clan. And the ruler during the councils was the leader of war and leader of peace. The leader of peace was usually the oldest and wisest of all people of the tribe and the leader of war could be chosen from any people who showed their power during the battles.
The council of the tribe decided where the tribe must hunt and when the tribe should start the war, etc. As in all other tribes of Indians, women of Comanche were responsible for the house and the whole village of the tribe and men were responsible for the hunting and military attacks. And as to the problem of children's educations, both women and men had equal rights.
